FOUNDER'S PROFILE

Elvis Gbanabom Hallowell born in 1965 taught English at Annie Walsh Memorial School in Freetown before entering the library and information profession full time. Eight years as a journalist, Hallowell has published essays in the social sciences. "Desperate Youths Guilty Elders" a research paper was accepted for delivery by the faculty of Social Sciences, Fourah Bay College, and serialized in Unity Now. His poetry has been published in lowa University, USA several times. Four of his poems appeared in a recent anthology, Lice in the Lion’s Mane: Poems and Poets of Sierra Leone. In 1996, Hallowell received a Meritorious Honor Award from the United States Embassy. He is also a recipient of the Gold award from the President’s Youths Award Scheme 1995 "for service to the nation" and also from the National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS) 1996 "for promoting national poetry". Hills of Temper is his first volume of poems.
